One of my New Year’s resolutions this year was to keep my blog, Facebook, and Instagram updated – and as we all know, life happened. The first months of 2018 have come and gone. March is basically over, and I haven’t written a blog in, well, forever (I know, shame on me!), but I have good reason! As it turns out, I’ve been having my busiest first quarter in business so far! Now that I’m finally getting a hang of things, I thought I’d resume my promise to myself – starting with one of the sweetest in-home family sessions to date.
I absolutely love Family Newborn Lifestyle Sessions. They are hands down one of my favorite to shoot. These sessions are a great way to capture the family relaxed in their natural environments, but this session in particular was much more than that.
Meet The Featherstone Family
Early last August, Katrina reached out excited to book a session downtown. She told me all about her little growing family: her 1.5-year-old son Everett, her husband Sean, and how she was 21 weeks along expecting their second child! We picked a location and set a date in September for her anniversary/maternity/family session – then life happened. Katrina ended up giving birth to her little girl, Billie, at just 26-weeks pregnant.
The strength that this little family has is nothing short of incredible. Once Billie was cleared to go home in December, Katrina and I scheduled an in-home session and it is moments like these that I feel so honored to see a glimpse of their precious lives. We had such a great time! We laughed as we watched Big Brother Everett play, and talked life and photography on this calm and quiet afternoon (Katrina is an aspiring photographer as well!). It just goes to show that you don’t need too much for these types of sessions, other than the time to cherish those you love and the ability to have some fun.
Here are a few highlights from the Featherstone’s session welcoming their baby girl, Billie, home sweet home.
